Justice Center for Legal Aid
JCLA provides poor and vulnerable people in Jordan with access to legal aid services, including legal consultations and legal representations. Poor and vulnerable persons can visit any of JCLA’s legal clinics when in need of legal advice. If a person requires ongoing assistance they will need to meet JCLA’s eligibility criteria for legal representation consisting of 3 tests: Can the person afford a private lawyer?; JCLA provides legal representation for cases that ultimately affect the rights and freedoms of poor and vulnerable people in the areas of civil, criminal and family (sharia) law; For civil and family (sharia) cases, JCLA will also look at whether the matter has reasonable prospects of succeeding, and whether legal representation is necessary to achieve a positive outcome.
